Fitness Journey – Jakhu Hill

Wait Wait What (hold on for a second yaar…) I know I know from the title you must be thinking of Fitness Journey – How ??

So let me tell you the story behind it :-

All You need to do a steep walk/climb from Ridge to reach the Jakhu Temple. There is a board placed at the start of the climb from Ridge which states the person’s level of fitness depending on the time taken to reach the temple.

Ask me…its really tests your fitness to the limit. Low oxygen, extremely steep climb.Adding to it, there are so many monkeys hovering around the temple.

Precaution – Do not carry anything in your hands, also keep your specs/glasses inside when you reach the temple because these monkeys do snatch your stuff Strictly  from boys The Innocent Face Monkey Gang will do a security check to all your pockets and if they find anything in your pockets they will take it. Then you have to please them with a  Heavy Bribe like Prashad, Fruits or Sweets depending upon their Mood. You can take the Stick from the Stalls situated in front of Temple gate.

So now you got the story behind the Fitness Journey and now i’ll tell you the Jakhu Temple history :-The temple has an interesting legend behind it. As It is mentioned in the Ramayana  that a deadly arrow injured Lord Rama’s brother Lakshmana when he was fighting the battle with the demon king Ravana.

A priest diagnosed Lakshmana and said that he needed a particular Sanjeevani herb from the Himalayas to cure Lakshmana. Hanuman was sent to get that herb from he lofty mountains. Upon reaching the Himalayas, Hanuman couldn’t make out as to which herb was the Sanjeevani. So he dug up the entire mountain and flew back to where Lakshmana was lying injured.
After Lakshmana was cured, Hanuman went back to place the mountain in its original site. He rested on top of the Jakhu hill for sometime. It is said that the top of the hill got flattened due to Hanuman’s weight! The temple has been built around the place that is supposed to have the footprints of Hanuman. There is 70 feet statue of Hanuman ji in orange at the temple gate. This is all about the jakhu hill So if you happen to visit Jakhu Temple, do check your fitness and let me know whether you are fit or not (“As like me “) ?
